Fokker D.VII Pegamoid or cockpit coaming
This is a piece of "pegamoid" or cockpit coaming once stuffed with horsehair and forming the padding over the edge of the aluminum panels in front of the cockpit on Fokker and other aircraft. This piece came along with several pieces of fabric from a Fokker D.VII. Dan-San Abbott explained to me in 2003 that "they were sewn to the right and left panels through holes drilled along the edge of the aluminum panels." It measures 44 in. or 112 cm.
