Aviatik Berg D.I

18.jpg

These parts are from various Aviatik Berg D.I. aircraft.  The wing is the lower right wing of the Thöne and Fiala - built Aviatik, 101.40, which is now on display at the Seattle Museum of Flight which acquired it from the Champlin Fighter Museum which had acquired it from Art Williams who purchased it from the widow of Julius von Berg, the designer, on whose estate it had been stored since the end of the war.  Because the aft end of the ribs of this wing are broken it was thought to be too fragile to be re-covered with new fabric and a copy was made, instead, to go in the restored aircraft.  The rudder bar and throttle are shown in more detail in the "Aircraft Parts" tab.
