On the right is the Demobilization Certificate
of R.F.C. Air Mechanic Frances Fogarty, born 16 January 1899, next
to his R.F.C. Training Brigade Transfer card made out to him as a
2nd Lieutenant. Fogarty flew during the war with 98
Squadron. He can be seen on the far left of the photograph
of No. 98 personnel below left. He later became Air
Chief Marshal Sir Francis Fogarty. He died in 1973. No. 98
Squadron, RFC, was formed at Harlaxton, Lincolnshire, on 30th
August 1917, from a nucleus flight from No. 4 Training Squadron
and in the following spring crossed to France as a day-bombing
unit equipped with DH9s.
